Karga pa ba ng RP media ang ad tungkol sa dapat bilhing food supplement at pantakot na bawal magkasakit? Ang tiyak ay konektado ito sa duel ng health care at profit principle.
At pinakatiyak ang patutsada ng isang social critic: "If there is one area of human endeavor where private enterprise doesn't work, it's health care".
Si Barbara Ehrenreich ang critic. Sa isa niyang libro, may seleksiyong nagsasaad ng sumusunod (na halaw).
Isang partikular na lurid case ng medical profiteering ang nasa porma ng isang Dr. Prem Reddy, "who owns 8 hospitals".
"I do not begrudge any physician a comfortable lifestyle," ani Barang, "good doctoring is hard work-but Dr. Reddy dwells in a 15,000-square foot mansion featuring gold-plated toilets and keeps a 2nd home, valued at more than $9 million, in Beverly Hills as well as a $4.4M helicopter for commuting".
